Clavier — contemporary family house design

Designing a contemporary family home in a rural setting

In Clavier, in Belgium's Liège Province, ArchitectANA developed the design of a new detached family house combining contemporary architecture, residential comfort and energy-conscious planning.

Set within a rural residential environment, the house features a two-storey main volume beneath a symmetrical pitched roof. A complementary flat-roofed volume accommodates a double garage. Red brick façades, dark-grey aluminium window frames and dark roof tiles create a coherent architectural expression that responds to the surrounding built landscape.

Inside, the ground floor is organised around open living spaces, with a lounge, kitchen and dining area connected to the garden. The first floor accommodates three bedrooms, a home office and a bathroom, while an unfinished attic provides additional storage space.

Energy and environmental considerations are integrated from the design stage, including an air-to-water heat pump, heat-recovery ventilation, planned photovoltaic panels, rainwater harvesting and an individual wastewater treatment system.

ArchitectANA provided the architectural design, 3D visualisations, planning permission documentation and building energy performance services for the permitting phase. Planning permission was granted in 2023.
